Seasonal Rituals

Following is a sample of a Samhain Ritual that was used by the MoonRunners in 1993.
Since there is no one "correct" way to craft a ritual you are welcome to take this as a blueprint, change it or use it as is. Of course, DO NOT, add anything to any ritual that intentionally invokes any negative energy.

May All Your Work Be Magickal!

INVOCATIONS

Priestess:
On this Night of Magick and Mystery the veil between the world recedes. The light of full moon illuminates our path and guides us. I reach within my spirit, within the spirit of all, and touch the Lady of Night, The Lady of Darkness. I claim the dark sister of my soul - I reclaim Nephthys, Divine Mistress of the Underworld. Nephthys! On this sacred night, I walk with you and within your power! You who are both finality and victory, be within me and guide me through your realm!

Priest:
I reach within my spirit and touch the Lord of the Night, The Lord of Darkness. I claim I claim the dark side of my soul, I claim Anubis, sacred Lord of the Underworld. Anubis!I walk with you and within your power! You who weigh the hear against a feather, be with me tonight and guide me through your realm.

Priestess:
We are between the worlds, in a place that is not a place, in a time that is not a time. We stand at the edge of the veil that divides all reality. And as we stand tonight between the worlds know that we stand always between the present and the future. For Samhain is a gate between all planes of existence. It lets us see this realm and the spiritual, and move easily between them - Now, and all other times.

Priest:
The Tarots can also be a key to other realms. Traditionally, a card is chosen on this sabbat as a portend of the year to come. (The deck is passed and each person chooses a card; the meanings of the cards are explained to any who wish it.) Place the card before you and study it. Focus on it and try to get the image of the card in your mind's eye. (Priest begins a meditation down into the card) (Priestess takes up the meditation and leads the coveners through the other world. Participants are brought back up through a different portal than that through which they left.) Take a moment to reflect your experience and any messages or tokens from the other side that you have received.

Priestess:
You have journeyed through our realms and return now from the other world, return to this realm and reclaim life, rejoin the light. (The Priest and Priestess form an arch through which each person passes deocil)

Priest:
I am Osiris, risen. I greet you and welcome you back to the living and back to the light. As life always rises from death, so I have been resurrected.

Priestess:
I am Isis, the healer. I am she who has resurrected Osiris, and brought him from the Underworld. So I welcome each of you back to this realm of light from your journey to the spirit world. I welcome you back to light and love. And so. . .

CAKES AND WINE

Priestess:
Behold the athame! Time out of mind the athame has been used to focus and direct energy.

Priest:
It is the spark of lifethat is the male aspect. Now we join it to the chalice. . .

Priestess:
Ancient symbol of woman's life giving womb.

Priest and Priestess
Now we join the male and female aspects, as we join the blade to the chalice, and through this energy, the wine is blessed.

Priestess:
And bless this bread. . .

Priest:
Symbol of Earth's Bounty.. .

Priestess:
Of fertility and the potential fruits of life.

Priest and Priestess:
So with the energies of this circle This bread is blessed!

Priest and Priestess:
Carry the bread and wine around the circle, Remember the Goddess, Remember the God.

CLOSING

Priestess:
Will you release the quarters. . .

Priest:
Will you draw down the circle?

Priestess:
This rite is ended. . .

The Circle is open, But unbroken, Merry Meet and Merry Part, and Merry Meet again!

Blessed Be
